Memory Tree

People’s Collection Wales (PCW) has created a series of Memory Tree and Timeline posters free for anyone to use.

They form part of the PCW teaching resource, Memory Archive: Using People’s Collection Wales to learn about dementia, which gives guidance on how you can use the Memory Archive in two practical reminiscence activities: Create a Memory Tree and Create a Memory Timeline.

The Memory Archive is a curated account of 24 Collections divided into relevant themes and decades (within living memory) available on the People’s Collection Wales website. The Memory Archive can be used for ‘simple reminiscence’ work and for ‘life story’ work, which looks at a particular person’s life from birth to the present day.

Now you can select and print images from the Memory Archive Collections and add them to the poster of your choice. Where the Memory Tree is structured by theme, the Memory Timeline works chronologically. You add images to the branches or along the timeline that represent important memories from the person’s life.

We hope that these resources will spark memories and stimulate discussion. We’d love to hear from you if they do – please get in touch: reina.vanderwiel@rcahmw.gov.uk.
