Museums Inspiring Memories: A Consultation

Using Amgueddfa Cymru’s sites and collections to benefit the health and wellbeing of those affected by dementia

St Fagans National Museum of History / 11 am – 2.30 pm / 1 Dec 2022

National Museum Cardiff / 11 am – 2.30 pm / 8 Dec 2022

Museums Inspiring Memories is a 3-year partnership project between Amgueddfa Cymru and Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, with the purpose of developing and delivering practical ways to engage with and to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia, through access to museum resources and sites.

What is the event?
This is one in a series of events, at which we hope to gather ideas and experiences to shape the work of the project. Come along to hear more about the project, and to help shape the creation of:
• a Dementia Voice in Heritage Group to help steer and shape the project and create new activities for our museums
• a dementia awareness training package for heritage sector staff
• a training session for carers / care sector staff in using museum resources with those that they care for

Who is it for?
• People living with dementia and carers from the community (separate events will be held for those within the care sector)
• Heritage sector staff and volunteers
• Interested representative organisations

Useful to know
• With conversations looking at the barriers to accessing and engaging with Amgueddfa Cymru sites and collections, an experience of visiting or accessing its sites and/or collections would be useful
• Support is available should travel pose a barrier to attending
• Lunch will be provided

If you would like to attend, please let us know by registering here: (an account will need to be created). Alternatively, please contact Gareth Rees on gareth.rees@museumwales.ac.uk
